I’ll admit that I’m not the best person to talk to about quitting a game when playing free poker online. I find that I spend more time playing cash games when I am losing than when I am winning. The sharks will smell the blood in the water and take advantage of you. If you’re tired, you should quit.

Fish

If you are playing players who are particularly bad, then you want to try to play longer games. Chances are, if the bad players have been playing for a long time, they are going to get tired, going back to what I was saying earlier about playing when exhausted. They will play even worse, and although you also be off your game, you will still play better than they will.

Some people make the mistake of quitting too soon when they’re ahead. If you’re winning and playing weak opponents, you should keep playing for as long as you can.

Tilt

Some people have poor tilt control. If you’re prone to tilting, you should seriously consider quitting a session as soon as suffer a bad beat. I know this advice is a bit extreme, but you always need to remember that money saved is money earned. When you’re tilting, you’re not playing your best game and will likely end up losing a lot of money. For those who have better tilt control, you may not need to quit. You may just need to step away from the table for a bit to clear your head before returning to continue the session.

If you don’t know when you’re tilting, I suggest bringing friends along with you to the table who understand you and your game. You should tell them to take you aside when they notice that you’re tilting.

Running Bad

In poker, there will always be games that you just won’t win. Whether you have the best hand or not. We have all been there and its just part of the game.

When things don’t go your away, you should consider leaving your session. This is even truer for people with tilt issues. Taking bad beats will leave you feeling frustrated and will take you off your game.

There are times in all of our lives where we feel troubled on personal matters. Nobody should gamble to avoid issues elsewhere in your life. Always try to sort out problems before taking part in a poker game.

I was brought up playing poker. My mum taught me how to play at a very young age and have been playing ever since. I often find myself trying to head hunt after another player tries to bluff… and then shows me his cards. I hate being shown up by another player. I always like to get my own back where possible and I find the best way to do this is to beat them and take their money. I don’t play foolish hands, I find it too risky.

I’m mostly a limp in guy, who like to slow play people, and “let them hang themselves”. But I know the best way to reach my goals is to switch it up, never let them get a read on me.

I try not to let the “odds” detail get the better of me. I try not to pay attention to the better percentage of winning hands. Although I have a good idea what they are, I try to play with my gut feeling as much as I can. I go with what I feel the situation calls for. It is much harder to get a read on people when you can’t see their face, so again, go with my gut.

New poker players fascinate me and make me look back at how I was 25 years ago. They all think that they are the best, but in a few years time will look back and laugh at themselves.
